Our First Field Trip

Back a week or two ago, Dennis and I were privileged to go with the Kindergarten and First Grade Classes to our airport to see the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service Helicopter first hand!!  We see it flying over head quite often, but this was a treat in two ways ~ being with the kids and hearing/seeing the helicopter.  They needed to take both of our large school vans and Dennis was asked to drive one of them.  When the First Grade teacher, Miss Raisch, was telling me about it I immediately told her I wanted to go along, too.  We had a lot of fun!

Here Officer Bailey was talking to the children before going into the hanger where the helicopter is kept when not in service.  She comes to our school very regular in the mornings to check on the children as they come to school.  She has become a good friend of mine!!  She loves to joke and kid around.  The other day she was telling me something funny and I told her that she needed get out of the police force and go into comedy!
The kids all lined up and listening!
Getting ready to go inside
So exciting
Another of the Policeman who goes up in the helicopter on missions
Showing a life vest
and Gabriel getting to demonstrate it.
This vest that Joshua is wearing has all kinds of pockets that are filled with important things the Police may need while on their missions.
This is the other Police Officer who goes up in the helicopter when they go on missions.  There are only two Officers that do that job.
Aquinle and Joshua trying on the helmets.  It was so funny as the helmets were so big on them :o)
And Flavio trying on one!  All the kids got to do that.
Officer Bailey doing what she does best! haha!!  That is Officer Charlery who is her partner.
Telling the kids they must wear seat belts even in the helicopter!!
And that their seats can go outside of the helicopter when they are in the air.  Now that's definitely not my cup of tea!!
And then they all got to get up in the helicopter and buckled in one at a time.  That took quite a while, but, oh, how they liked that!

The adults
The lady next to me is the First Grade teacher ~ Miss Raisch
The lady next to Dennis is the Kindergarten teacher ~ Mrs. Nachev and the lady next to her is her teacher's aide ~ Miss Hermina.
The kiddo's all lined up and posing for me :o)
A few minute last things from our friend about the helicopter.  It was so cute ~ the Police that talked about the helicopter gave the kids a coloring sheet of none other then a big helicopter.  The kids sure liked that.  I'm so glad we were a part of this our first field trip!!
For someone who "SUPPOSEDLY" doesn't like her picture taken she sure was posing for me!  haha!!
