Up, Up and Away

On Monday, there were 14 staff (mainly teachers) who our good Malachi took to the George Town Airport to head to Charlotte, North Carolina for Educator's Convention. He is the bus driver and baggage handler :o)
We've found the easiest way to get the luggage off the bus is by . . . . .
opening the window and handing it out.  Believe me, there was a lot of luggage for 14 people!
Sitting on the tarmac patiently waiting to head north to the States

The next six pictures were taken while taking off.
Our little beautiful airport while zooming up the runway :o)

It doesn't take long going down the really short runway until you see the Sea

An arial view of a little part of the Island
This looks like it could be George Town
And the last we'll see of the Island for a few days
Our plane was really, really empty!  So, Mr. Profitt who is our Junior High teacher, moved to a different seat to stretch out for a while.
Even though the plane was very empty, we had three in our row.  Ms. Debbie, who is Malachi's wife, does not like the taking off on the flights, so she always sits between Dennis' and I :o)
Remember how I like cloud formations?
Now someone is really getting into sleeping or at least trying
I love this picture!!
One big flat cloud
Flying over Cuba
Finally, we've made it to the good 'ole USA!!
Coming into Charlotte.  I love the blurriness of the lights!
Dennis found this beautiful hotel online and got the rooms for only a fraction of what they normally charge!!  The hotel is only a little over a year old.  I'd highly recommend staying here if you ever get to the Charlotte area ~ The Sierra!

After we stopped at the hotel to unload our luggage, we walked up the street to get dinner.  We didn't want a fancy place, so our Assistant Pastor and his wife, (she is one of our High School teachers) use to live in this area.  They mentioned going to Five Guys.  I don't know if you've ever been to one, but they have some of the most awesome burgers and fries!!  Here are some of teachers waiting in line to order their dinner.

Then we had to take the teacher's from Jamaica to do a little shopping.  They only get to do this once a year and so look forward to it.  Unfortunately, it was late and Cato's was already closed, but we'll get back there.
Then we went to Walmart!!  Oh, how they love to go to Walmart!!
They were off on a mission!  But we'll be back there several times before we leave :o)

You have no idea how good it is to be in the US!! Yes, 5 Guys is yummy but those calories don't do a body good :o) We shopped ALL day! Well, let me clarify that ~ I looked while the ladies shopped. I didn't buy much! And yes, the hotel is beautiful!!

Thanks! We had lots of rain as a result of hurricane Rhina, but it's also our rainy season in Cayman on top of that!!
