On Sunday, October 28th, we took a trip to the Ukraine to visit our beloved friends, Scott, Oksana and their beautiful kiddos who have been Missionaries there for several years and we never left Grand Cayman!! You see, it was Missions Sunday at our Church.
We talked to them by way of Skype. It was so awesome!! I cried through most of the service just getting to see their family. It's been probably 4 or 5 years since we saw them and the kids have grown so much!!
They played their handbells and did soooo good!
Scott updated us on what's happening with their work there.
Then each of the children talked to our Congregation. Here is Diana.
This is little Damara, the youngest
And this is Dasha
And Dalina
There's David ~ the only boy :o)
Then it was Oksana's turn to share with us
The whole family sang for us
They all crowded around the computer for us to see them
Before the service was over, Dennis had me go up on the platform to be able to get on the camera for them to see me, too. It was a real emotional time!! We were able to be with them by way of Skype for our Mission Service for between 30 - 45 minutes thousands of miles away from each other!! Oh, we're so thankful for modern technology. Since this time of being with the Sobie's that Sunday, we found out the Oksana is going to be having baby #6 later this summer. If you think of her, please pray everything continues to go well for her. Several years ago, she had cancer, but God touched and healed her. We're trusting Him to give her the needed strength for these coming months! What a ministry they have going there in their little city in Ukraine. They've been able to buy a building and remodel it to hold Sunday services, I believe they have a midweek service as well as many, many activities for the children and other community projects. They sure are keeping busy!! Oh, yes, the baby is a boy! I'm sure that David is really happy about that as he won't be the only boy now :o)
